President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., on. February 6, 2024, has signed into law Republic Act 11982, also known as the Expanded Centenarian Act of 2023, which broadens the scope of benefits provided to senior citizens who reach the age of 80, 90, and 100. The new measure ensures that Filipino elders receive earlier recognition and financial assistance in their twilight years.
The law amends the previous Centenarian Act of 2016, which exclusively granted a ₱100,000 cash incentive and a letter of felicitation from the President to citizens who reached 100 years old.
The Expanded Centenarian Act grant a PHP10,000 cash gift for those celebrating their 80th, 85th, 90th and 95th birthdays.
