The Department of Health – Ilocos Center for Health Development celebrated outstanding contributions to public health through the Gawad Kalusugan Awards 2024 on December 9, 2024, held at Hotel Van Gogh, Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

The Municipality of Bauang, under the leadership of Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III, emerged as a standout honoree, garnering three prestigious awards for its exceptional health programs and services:

• Good Practices in Health Award (Gobyernong Abot ang Barangay)

• Best Online Malaria Information System (OLMIS) Implementer (1st Place)

• Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) Award

These accolades were achieved through the unwavering efforts of the Bauang Rural Health Unit (RHU), led by Dr. Erwill O. Nunan, whose commitment to innovative and inclusive health strategies has greatly benefited the community.

Representing Bauang at the ceremony were Mr. Wilson Samuel C. Caluza, Municipal Administrator for Operations, and Dr. Erwill O. Nunan, Municipal Health Officer.

These awards underscore the municipality’s steadfast dedication to enhancing health services and improving the quality of life for its residents, serving as an inspiration for other local government units in the region.
