The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bauang passed the National Quality Assurance – Quality Management System (NQA-QMS) Surveillance Audit conducted last Tuesday, October 1, 2024, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III.

This means that the LGU has successfully maintained its established Quality Management System (QMS) and is qualified for recertification on April 2025.

Mr. Ranilo “Rannie” L. Bernardino headed the audit team from LGU Bauang’s third-party auditor NQA Philippines, together with Ms. Thesz Bernardino and Ms. Patricia Tabuton.

This was the second Surveillance Audit for the Municipality following the first one last July 2023. The LGU obtained the certification in May 2022 under the administration of former Municipal Mayor Menchie C. Lomboy-De Guzman, M.D.

ISO History

“ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, brings global experts together to agree on the best way of doing things – for anything from making a product to managing a process.” (iso.org)

Because “International Organization for Standardization” would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), its founders opted for the short form “ISO”. The story goes that ISO is derived from the Greek word “isos”, meaning equal.

There has been over a million certificates issued to organizations in 189 countries. ISO 9001:2015 is the latest revision of previous standards and requirements that replaces previous versions, most notably ISO 9001:2008.
