President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. launched the program Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families affected by the 2024 El Niño in La Union. The Municipality of Bauang held the Distribution last August 16, 2024 at the Bauang North (BNCS) Sports Complex, headed by Municipal Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III.

Also present in the event was Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Vice Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega who gave his inspirational message, alongside Mayor De Guzman.

A hefty amount of PHP4,020,000 was distributed to 402 farmers and fisherfolk from Bauang. The farmers and fisherfolk were assessed and selected the same month of August by the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGO) headed by Mr. Leodivico Verzola and the Department of Agriculture National Tobacco Administration (DA NTA) headed by Mr. Giovanni Baniqued Palabay. 60% of the farmers were from the tobacco industry, the rest are of rice, corn, and other staples.

According to Mr. Verzola, head of MAGO, Bauang bagged the third highest amount granted in the Province of La Union.
