Bauang, La Union | July 15, 2024

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region I, together with the Municipality of Bauang, held a momentous showcasing program of the Bauang Bakawan Eco-Tourism Park at Brgy. Parian Oeste. The title of the program was, “Love Inspired: The Philippines: A Canvas of Biodiversity.”

The Bauang Baggak Choir gracefully performed the Opening Prayer, National Anthem, La Union Hymn, and the Bauang Hymn.

The Welcome Remarks was delivered by Municipal Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III. The Mayor encouraged everyone to help preserve Bauang Bakawan Eco-Tourism Park. The following officials gave their inspirational messages:

  1. Mr. Justo “Tito” Orros III, Executive Assistant IV, representative of Provincial Government of La Union Governor Raphaelle Ortega-David
  2. Ms. Teresita O. Garcia, Consultant, representative of Congressman Dante Sotelo Garcia
  3. Regional Director Francisco Joseph “Jeff” Ortega, Department of Tourism Region I
  4. Gissela Marie R. Quisumbing, Assistant Secretary, Department of Tourism

According to Regional Director Ortega, we have to prepare Bauang for the coming construction of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union-Expressway (TPLEX) Extension. The said expressway will have an interchange dedicated to Bauang. Soon, tourists will flock to Bauang for the famous Bakawan, Grape Farms, and other sites.

Afterwhich, there was a cultural intermission performance by the dancers from Don Eulogio De Guzman National High School (DEGMNHS). This was followed by the Mural Launch, the Signing of the Pledge of Commitment, and the Awarding of Plaque and Certificates.

The Closing Remarks was delivered by Hon. Henry B. Balbin, board member, 2nd District of La Union.

There was a briefing for the Tree-Planting Activity by Mr. Ramon Benito “Toby” Tamayo, Environmental Consultant of the Province of La Union.

A closing intermission dance number was presented by the same energetic performers from DEGMNHS.

Finally, the tree-planting activity commenced with the participants being divided into five (5) groups. Afterwhich, they were handed wet face towels, which symbolizes environment conservation.
