The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) conducted a seminar to the residents of Barangays Pudoc and Parian Oeste of the Municipality of Bauang on March 28, 2025 regarding the creation of Cooperatives. The seminar was held at the Bauang Bakawan Eco-Park, Sitio Puraw Kadaratan, Barangay Parian Oeste, Bauang, La Union.

Administrator for Operations Mr. Wilson Samuel C. Caluza, representing Municipal Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III, thanked everyone present, including the facilitators from the Municipal Information and Tourism Office (MITO), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAgO). Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Ms. Rowena Calica, Tourism Consultant, Hon. Francisco Abuan, Punong Barangay of Parian Oeste, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) President Hon. Edgar B. Beninsig, represented by Mr. Gestonie, and Ms. Connie de Guzman of the CDA.

“Uray napintas balay mo nu natangsit ka, awan latta,” said Mr. Navarro in his message about protecting our environment and having a wholesome personality. He also said that government agencies look for cooperatives first and foremost when doling out financial assistance grants and projects.

Mr. Leodivico Verzola, in his message, shared about the history of Cooperatives and agriculture in Bauang.

In the seminar, Ms. de Guzman discussed the different types of Cooperatives that the residents present can create, among other things. She also shared that Cooperatives are non-taxable.

The Municipal Government of Bauang regularly conducts initiatives for the improvement of the lives of our population, specifically the farmers and fisherfolk, the backbone of our community.
