The Gobyernong Abot ang Barangay o GABAY this Valentines Day, February 14, 2025, was held at Barangay Central West, Bauang, La Union by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bauang, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III. In attendance were Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Henry A. Bacurnay, Jr., Sangguniang Bayan Members (SBM) Hon. Tanya Roberta A. De Guzman, Hon. Veronica T. Bernardo, Hon. Myrna U. Ligas, Hon. Felix P. Sanchez, Hon. Bonifacio “Kit” A. Malinao, and Hon. Raymund C. Ganaden; Municipal Department Heads and employees, and line agencies.

The GABAY aims to deliver vital services of LGU Bauang closer to each Barangay. This was the second GABAY activity this 2025.

The event started with a tree-planting activity by the Municipal and Barangay Officials, solidifying LGU Bauang’s role in protecting the environment. Five (5) trees were planted under the oversight of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) headed by Mr. Marc Alvin T. Garcia.

The Punong Barangay of Central West, Hon. Oliver B. Agcaoili, welcomed and thanked the LGU officials for their time set aside for the GABAY.

In her message, Hon. Tanya Roberta A. De Guzman congratulated the Barangay officials for inviting as many barangay residents as they could, as the GABAY provides free services that the LGU brings closer to the residents. She reminded the residents that their hearts should always be happy. “Masapol nga naragsak ti puso tayo kananayon. Uray narigat ti biyag.”

Hon. Henry A. Bacurnay, Jr., in his message, advised the locals to reach out to the Barangay and the Municipality if they have problems. “Masapol agsarita tayo.” Also adding, “Nabayagen datuy nga programa ni Mayor Martin.” (This program by Mayor Martin has been running for a long time.)

After the messages, there was an Information Education Campaign (IEC) by the Medical Technologist Ms. Stephany Gatchalian of the Rural Health Unit (RHU).

To make the day more festive, commemorating Valentines Day, Mr. Wilson Samuel C. Caluza, Administrator for Operations, called three (3) couples in front to demonstrate their love for each other, planting unforgettable smiles and giggles on the residents.

9 residents provided with information

1 mobile registration of birth certificate

Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA):

23 National ID registration

84 medical consultations and medicines

12 dental consulations

Dental:

12 dental consultations
