The 16th GABAY for this year was held at Barangay Disso-Or, Bauang, La Union earlier today, November 29, 2024. GABAY, meaning Gobyernong Abot ang Barangay, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III, seeks to reach Bauang residents in their respective Barangays. The highlight for today’s GABAY was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that grants financial assistance to Brgy. Disso-or for the purpose of the procurement of land for their Multi-Purpose Hall, Covered Court, Daycare Center, and other facilities of the Barangay.
Present in the program were Municipal Vice Mayor Henry A. Bacurnay, Jr., Sangguniang Bayan Members, Municipal Department Heads and employees, line agencies, and Barangay Officials.
The Master of the Ceremony was Mr. Myung John De Gamo, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Member. The Punong Barangay, Ms. Cristeta C. Abdon, warmly expressed her gratitude for the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bauang.
Mayor Martin also emphasized in his message the 10-20% discount that we can get if we pay our Real Property Tax this November to December.
Here are the services provided during the GABAY:
- Municipal Civil Registry – 3 birth certificate registrants
- Philippine Statistics Office – 3 National ID registrants
- Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) – 130 indigents received food packs
The GABAY was piloted by Mayor Martin himself in the 1990s. It will continue to be held every month in different barangays for the benefit of Bauangeños.
