The Launching of the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program – Phase 1 was conducted at Barangay Paringao last Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 1:30PM – 3:00PM, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III. The Program was organized by the National Nutrition Council (NNC), and one of their target towns in La Union was Bauang. The beneficiaries were the pregnant women of Brgy. Pagdalagan Sur and Brgy. Paringao.
Present were Ms. Christy Bautista from the NNC, Sangguniang Bayan Member (SBM) Tanya Roberta A. De Guzman, who is also Committee Chairperson for Women and Family Welfare at the Sangguniang Bayan Office (SBO), SBM Veronica T. Bernardo, Chairperson for Committee on Health and Sanitation, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) Ms. Maria Adelfa Fe A. Fontz, Dr. Arman Garcia who represented Dr. Erwill O. Nunan, other officials and employees.
A ceremonial turn-over of Buntis Kits was held. The Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Department of Health (DOH) provided Buntis Kits. LGU Bauang provided iron-fortified rice, iodized salt, and hygiene kits. Our partner company, Megasoft, donated diapers and napkins.
The program has a 90-day lifespan, where the NNC will provide dry and wet meals to pregnant women. The dry meals were already provided in the said event.
This program follows the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028. Local Government Units (LGUs) from the Barangay Level to the National Level are encouraged to formulate programs for pregnant women and children to curb malnutrition.
